Full Moon: Time to Let Go

Did you look at the moon last night? If not, tonight she will be in her fullest form. Take a few minutes this evening and really look at her. Notice her glow. Her details and craters look clearer. Can you see her face? Does she say anything to you? 

 

I’ve had many conversations with our sister moon. Every month when she grows into her radiant ball of light, I sit and meditate with her. Even if it is just for a few moments. The inner dialogue is unique. She always lights up the truth. When her energetic light is strong, so are her messages. 

 

To understand the energy of the moon, we must note that our whole universe is one consciousness. There is a special connection between the moon, the mind, and water. Just like the moon pulls on the tides of the ocean, it moves through the fluid of our body.  The human body is made of 60% water.  During the full moon time, you may feel a little extra water weight in your body due to the moon pulling with the water in your cells. The moon is calling us to notice her. To spend time with her. 

 

Take some time for yourself today or tomorrow and really look at what you want to commit to emotionally and what you would like to release. When we release, we open up space for new energy to come in. Tune in to what brings you great joy and peace and commit to it. Know what is right for you so you can move forward. 

 

Here is a simple meditation to get you started. 

 

Supplies needed:

- a candle and something to light it with

- two pieces of paper or a journal

- pen or pencil

- a glass of water

- a ceramic bowl or piece of pottery

- crystal of your choice

         - stones with moon energy are labradorite, moonstone, selenite, and opal

         - if you do not have one of the stones above, you may choose any stone that you have

 

Step outside, find a place to set up your meditation station, and sit with the moon for 5-10 minutes. Light your candle (if its not too windy) and place it in front of you. Put your crystal in your left hand.  Close your eyes and take five slow and deep breaths in through the nose and out of the mouth. Open your eyes and look up at the moon. With your mind, begin to connect with her energy and feel her vibration.  She is cooling, loving, and healing. Then, begin to think about  what you are grateful for. Bring your awareness back to your present state, pick up your writing utensil, and begin, "I am thankful for...". Write down three things that you are grateful for in this moment.  Feel free to write as little or as much detail as you would like. Once you have written it all out, take a sip of water. 

 

Then, come back to the moon with your eyes. Feel her energy flow through your eyes and into your heart chakra. Now, it is time to review what has been getting in your way. Is it a habit, a behavior, a negative emotion?  The moon will allow you to open up and really look at the core of what has been troubling you. Allow yourself to go there. Even if it hurts, look at it with love. Maybe even put on your rose colored glasses if the emotions get too deep. Every moment is a lesson for us to get better at our human life.  What did this lesson teach you? Now, come back to your body, on a second piece paper write down, "Today I am ready and willing to let go of..." Write is all out. Every memory, every feeling, put it on the paper. 

 

Once you have spent sometime with the letting go writing process, take a sip of your water. Fold up the second piece of paper with your letting go items and place it over your candle flame*. Let it catch flame and put the burning paper in the piece of pottery. Watch it burn. Feel whatever you wrote down releasing from your body, mind, and spirit. Feel the lightness as it leaves you. Feel yourself completely letting go and detaching from it. Then, take a sip of water. Each time you take a sip of water, it is cleansing you from the words you have just spoken or written. 

 

When the burning process is over, place your crystal back in your left hand and put your right hand on your heart. Take five more deep slow breaths in through your nose and out of your mouth. Re-center and come back to that feel good moon energy. Open you eyes and look up at her again. Does she look differently?  Pick up the first piece of paper and re-read what you are grateful for. Settle into a moment of extreme gratitude for where you are on your journey.

 

You may keep the gratitude paper in your crystal grid, in your wallet, or on your bedside table. A place that you know you can come back to it. When a moment gets rocky or your find yourself getting into that old habit, bring your mind back to what you are grateful for. Repeat it three times if you need to get yourself back in the vibration of the moon and her healing energy. Stay in the place of love and treat yourself with grace and loving kindness.

*Please use caution here.  You should be outside and have your glass of water. If the flame gets too big, pour the water on the paper. Once lit, immediately put it in the ceramic bowl. Watch your fingers!
